words

Post by despicability » Wed Dec 08, 2010 4:30 pm

the problem with words

is that there is
only a finite number
of order
and expression

is that however
hard you try
to say
what you mean

you can’t.

and sometimes
you have to
accept
that silence

says it better.

Words are a poor substitute for communication at the best of times. Sometimes a hug can say it all.

Unfortunately, words are all we humans have to express ourselves,...and many times they're just not enough. Hugs are good,...holding hands,....wiping tears away, and laughing are our most common alternatives. They usually work just as well. Good poem. :hello:

I loved this poem, Despicability. Absolutely loved it. In your very choice of sparsity, you have said so much. It made me smile, and it made me acknowledge that you are so right. :) Delightful read.

It took me some time to figure out how to get to read some of YOUR poetry -- but I finally got Here -- so I am proud of myself! Your poem is exquisite. Words are inadequate to describe it! No -- you can't say. Have written some poems along that line myself. I know you must have more poems posted on these pages -- but it took enough strength and courage to beat my computer-ambivalence this one time -- that I dare not promise such expedition again in the relatively near future. The format of this website bewilders me. I appreciate its sophistication, but I ain't sophisticated --David

left click on the name under the avatar. This will bring you to the profile page. At the right will be a link "search user's posts". That will give you pages and pages of posts and topics that person has submitted. Try it.

Words can also, by their order, combination and inflection actually expedite an idea and spiral it into ramifications which the initial idea never had. They are a catalyst to thought which compels the idea forward often creating a constellation out of a figment in its wake. It all depends on how stimulating the incipient concept is and one's ability to create powerful and more complex variations out of it...much like in music.
