Marching Band (continaul poem, still in progress)

Post by Black Star Shine » Mon Jun 08, 2009 11:12 am

'Band, attend hut!'
D.H.S.

...

Day 1

Learning to march, sucks monkey...
Left... left... left... aw crap... i'm off
'Get into set!' they yell at us
45 degrees at the feet, 90 degree in yours arms, 10 in your chin
'TOES' "UP"
'HEELS!' "TOGETHER!"
'FEET!' "APART!"
'STOMACH!' "IN!"
'CHEST!' "OUT!"
'HEAD!' "UP!"
'SHOULDERS' "BACK!"
'EYES!' "WITH PRIDE! DHS!"
its going to be a looooong summer...

...

'Band, tend hut!'
"PRIDE"

...

Day 2

ow... ow... ow... ow..
'Down and give me 20'
every mistake earns you push ups
instrument weighs a fabulous 5 pounds
then... you march with it... i think its really 100 pounds...
back, thigh, calves, arms, hands, mouth, feet... all sore
was it worth it to sign up?

...

'Mello's. tend hut!'
"PRIDE"

...

Day 3

Marching is still very difficult...
my feet are sloppy, my head isnt straight, my body is bouncy...
then they throw a little, oh-so-happy, suprise at you
sideways marching! whoop de doo.
hips have to be at 45 degrees, elbows at 90, feet at zero
sliding is hard, 'Again!' they yell, because we all stink.
seems i have muscles i never knew existed

I remember this all too well. Every new marcher is like that. You eventually get better at it. I have to say it is pretty exciting to compete against some bands that are bigger than yours and beat them.
