Ganymede

Post by JukotoxKanashimi » Wed May 06, 2009 1:52 am

The musicians’ troupe convenes
In California with beautiful Ganymede
On his word processor playing,
playing his Music to a world unseen.

And lo, behold, towering tyrant Zeus
God of much sound and fury
Comes to hoist Ganymede
On to his shoulders
Away from that invisible music
And up high to Olympus where
Ganymede will hold the wine.

The wine! The wine…
The river Lethe in a chalice
Washes the prayers from your lips
And loved regrets out
Of sight and out of mind.
And forgetful, vain Ganymede
All brown and lustrous marble
Just laughs and pours the wine.

So, SPEAK MEMORY
Fill in the spaces that history
Itself seems to have forgot.
SPEAK MEMORY
You the deceiver and the
deceived
Bring back him back
Safe and sound, not
Demi-god, but all too
Mortal,
doomed Ganymede.

The virtues and vices we ascribe to gods and demi gods are but echoes of our own desires.

i love the style you wrote this in. it has a very old-world elegance to it.
