reflections (extended version)

Post by gordy » Thu Apr 18, 2002 8:01 pm

In my gloom, across the room
I see a leafless tree outside
Through the rain and the window pain
The trees reflection and mine collide

As I start to wonder, I hear the thunder
The window rattles, then comes to rest
Just leaving me and the lonely tree
Even the birds have left their nest

Then without a word, that could be heard
Something stirs inside my soul
And I realize, with some surprise
Even the birds have somewhere to go

Why, without a worry, wings all in a flurry
God picks them up and sends them south
Even the trees regain their leaves
As spring buds sprout all about

Slowly a grin comes creeping in-
to the reflection of the tree and me
The clouds roll away, leaving a sunny day
And the hope of things to be

Although God has allowed the stormy clouds
Obscuring my daily plans for this world
I'll stay strong, because all along
Gods view is not man's, but eternal

Well, you got Val and Abbie and shaz... I'm surprized bags hasn't been on. Maybe Michael and Patrick will see it, or stephanie. Keep it up for a while... I know that means refreshing it every other day so it stays on page 1 *grin*.

It's a good piece... not my general cup of tea, though. I can see where it would have appeal to others.

Gordy, this is wonderful. We are so caught up in our lives of survival that we forget what we have is temporary. Also, if we could just trust in God, we'd find there is great security.

Beautiful!

thanxs for the encouragement heinz, i wasnt sure if it was proper etiquette to keep bringing them back up every other day or so but if you dont they get lost in the shuffle with so many people posting lately. just let me know if i start getting on peoples nerves but every one i am around in my daily life is not into poetry so this is really the only way i can get some actual input on my work from other poets. thanks for all your comments and paitence. lol

Now, of course, if I thought your poem "sucked" I wouldn't have made the suggestion (LOL) j/k

You're welcome. That's what this board is here for... encouragement and support. Anything less than that is unacceptable here.

Oh Gordy -

You are a bold and brazen bringer-upper from the bottom to the before-my-very-eyes buttercupped bundle of.....(is there a word beginning with b for file-folder).......ummm.....bile-folder doesn't work does it......

Absurd alliteration addles all artistic attempts at articulation.

You have my admiration, both for your poetry, and for your style.

Now, she says (with furrowed brow) - howz about commenting on some of my stuff? Eh Gordy?

How 'bout, "You be sweet", instead of thank you! Ha! I really like this, Gordy!

"through the rain and the window pain
the trees reflection and mine collide"

Love the image it brings to mind!
