Re: Leysa
It's raining and has been all week ... and is supposed to continue through the weekend. But the rain broke the August heat and temps have been moderate.

Re: Quo Vadis?
It's like you took that simple phrase, "Don't worry, be happy" and doused it with beautiful word pictures, giving it meaning for those who love poetry.
Tis a lovely write.

There is a feeling that some celtic songs evoke and your poem captures that so well. I felt as though I was riding along the notes ... nice write!

Soul's Fervor
Chills of loneliness disappear inside his arms. Whispered words sighing gently across awakened skin bestow passion’s warmth. Possessed by his fervent touch she succumbs to heat, completely engulfed by fires born of shared desire. Physical joining becomes a shadow symbol of their true union: hearts t...

Re: The Ancient Wurm Predicts
I am a huge fan of anything to do with Arthurian legends -- so loved the references here. I'm not a fan of rhyming poetry -- except exceptionally well-written rhyming poetry. Too often the lines feel forced in order to toss in the rhyme scheme. In this piece, though, the phrasing was so well done th...

Re: Earl's Little Girls (now complete)
Gordy, This was just great. I got caught up in the story and wanted to know more about everyone you mentioned -- they were all so real to me as the reader. But the moral of it all, the lovely ending, was simply beautiful. And, yes, I cried. You write just like people talk -- made it feel like I coul...
Re: My Daddy
Hmmmmm ... both my parents were avid readers -- but especially my mom. I think I spent a pretty big part of my life trying to prove my worth to my mother. It's not that she was a bad mother, but there were seven kids demanding her attention, so I sought ways to stand out. Writing and grades were my ...
Re: SPF 30
I just never understood why they would slip out onto the sidewalk -- even to escape the rainwater -- because the concrete had to feel hotter than the earth. But then, how often do we "go into the fire" knowing it's a bad decision, but go anyway. Crazy little worms. Anyway, thanks for reading!
SPF 30
The pudgy earthworms
inched onto the sidewalk
driven by the rain unfurled.
The storm ended and
stranded in the sun
they died, neat and curled.
Tis a shame there’s
no sunscreen
in their annelid world.

Reality
Reality
It isn’t real –
It changes on a whim,
with a breath,
a choice,
a deception.
Now I know
I must make
my own
reality.

Allura -- it's great to hear from you!! Thank you so much.
Moushka -- thanks! Watch out for that vodka -- it's the one of two alcohols that make me lose total control! It's why I stick to beer! Thanks for sharing!
