Its hard to comprehend the weight that some amongst us are compelled to carry as they wind their way through life.
Richie, truly a Poet, both in Art and Craft, I will miss your input and your poetry.

Thanks very much for the nomination Bags,
I'm very flattered but, all too unfortunately, life is rather too full at the moment to take much of an active part on the Pages, I can't even find the time to start a decent argument

This is very impressive, exceptionally well written. Superb adherence to form, but with a very free flowing feel. This is without doubt one of the best poems i've seen in a long time. Well done.

A very intrigUing piece Ven, well written, that ten syllable thing is difficult, and it's very easy to lose that Iambic rythym. Derren Brown rocks, the armed robbery in particular was very disturbing and just went to show how easily people can be manipulated, especially those that convince themselve...

Ha ha, I have to admit that took me a little time, only a little tho. Ha, great wordplay. For the Americans amongst us, perhaps I should point out(not too patronisingly I hope, for I have been drinking and I really don't know if her fame has spread so far west), that Pam Ayres is one of our most bel...

Thank you Heinzs, your comments and critiques are very much appreciated. There is a distinct lack of skilled criticism here of late, your comments are always much anticipated.

Thank you very much everyone, I am very pleased, not so much for the plaudit (though this is of course very welcome) but more for the sticky that accompanies it, as all Poets i'm sure, we crave to be read and the more notice we gain for our work the happier we are. Thank you. Hello Heinzs, I find my...

Debbie, Richie, thank you very much for your reads and comments. I've noted with great interest a few historical poems on these pages lately, it's always a joy to see these old themes re-visited. I thought i'd chuck in one of my efforts, glad you liked it, thank you.

Hello again Raven Moon. Matthew Hopkins was the Witchfinder general in England during the civil war. It's a grim tale worth looking up. p.s. human beings are always "hanged", only meat is "hung". Thanks again for this poem, it really is superb. It's nice to see original subjects tackled, there is to...

Hello Raven Moon, wonderful poetry again. I love your rythyms and subject matter. If i may be so bold though ( and pedantic as i often am) witches were put to trial by water, their punishment was by fire. This was for two reasons, the fire purified their souls ready to stand before God, and also bec...

I know what you mean. We're back to that old "how do you define poetry" thing. I guess if the poet says it's poetry then it is, as Philip Larkin said somewhat more eloquently. Personally, I suppose i'm quite old fashioned in my definition, it's just my own literary influences coming through. Cheers ...
